What Ganas and Yonis in Vedic Astrology Speak of Your Nature

In vedic astrology, in the Ashtakoota Matchmaking, many aspects are considered. Two of them are your Gana and Yoni. Gana means category while Yoni means sexual organ. However, it is essential to understand that nature or psychology is defined by these two which is actually that decides whether you are compatible or not. Also, if these two don't match it doesn't mean that you are incompatible with the other person. There are many other and deeper other aspects to consider.

First, let's check what the Ganas actually mean and why they are compatible or non-compatible. Gana of a person tells his or her temperament. It is his default identity. His basic structure, therefore, Gana gets high points assigned against itself in Ashtakoota matchmaking.

When Ganas are fully compatible then you can get whole 6 points therefore, you are left only with 12 more points to cover for passing the preliminary test. On the contrary, if they don't match they you lose 5-6 points. So, without any further delay, let's understand the ganas.

There are three types of Ganas, Dev, Manushya and Rakshasha. They don't mean that people born in the Dev gana are gods or those born in Rakshasha are devils. They just show the temperaments.

Dev Gana: 

The people born in this Gana having the divine quality to forgive. If you cross a person with this Gana, he'll forgive you and not mind your mistake if you apologize. Dev gana people don't take anyone's bad behavior with bitterness. They will overlook the mistakes at least for sometime. They also feel like they have the divine right to guide people and may take this authority very seriously. You can always learn from them. They are good teachers and may sometimes teach their own teachers because they believe in their divine right.

Dev gana people will forgive till the limit is reached then they will punish. They are law unto themselves and don't consider themselves to be answerable to anyone. They are also the ones who are highly religious in nature and will follow it with diligence with authority. Dev Gana people tend to take others under their wings and can be really generous. 

Manushya Gana: 

The people belonging to this are born to err. They make mistakes like humans do. They don't believe in any kind of power divine or devil. They are soft hearted, pessimistic and believers of authority. They follow and not lead anyone. They are also the ones who give in easily and are always afraid of the unseen and unknown. On the brighter side, they are helpful and gentle without any kind of air. They are the ones to lend you a coat in cold on "human grounds". They are also the ones who are charitable. Manushya gan people are the ones who are affected by the change, they are not the ones to bring in the change.

Manushya Gana people find themselves in crisis and controversies when they are purely innocent. They are also the ones who feel like they witness the fight of good vs evil in which they get damaged. Their auras are weak and so they are prone to psychic attacks. However, with bhakti or devotion they can get protection of god. 

Rakshasha Gana: 

The people born in this gana are not devil but they are angry with authorities. They react violently and want to take the throne for themselves. Rakshasha gana people will not tolerate any kind of nonsense thrown in their direction. They will fight it and destroy it. They are ambitious people who want to lead. What makes them different from the Dev gana people is their attitude to do it at any costs.

Dev gana people think it is their divine right to guide or rule while Rakshashas are the ones who challenge them. They will detest them. Rakshasha people are known for verbal outrage and they don't hold their tongue while talking. This is one reason why they rub people the wrong way.

A Rakshasha gana person lacks a calm mind. He or she will not sit back and let the world function. They will chase every opportunity and kick every obstacle that blocks their path. They are also the tamasic of the lot meaning the ones who will not blindly follow the law. More than rituals, Rakshasha gan believes in analysis and scientific approach. They are willing to fight for what they believe and argue till the end.

Compatibility:  

Dev Gana and Manushya Gana:

They are compatible because the man submits to god willingly. The god loves to take the Manushya under the wings. Hence, whether male or female these ganas are extremely tolerant towards each other.

A Manushya gan woman will worship her Dev Gan husband. While a Dev Gan woman will guide her Manushya Gan husband towards success and prosperity.

Rakshasha Gana and Manushya Gana:

Rakshasha gana marries manushya gan, the manushya gan person won't be able to handle the highly ambitious nature of the Rakshasha gan individual. The rakshasha person is extremely rash and brutal towards the timid manushya. This pairing is bad both ways and not recommended at all.

Dev Gana and Rakshasha Gan:

The Dev Gan person will show considerable forgiveness towards the raging and unbending Rakshasha. Dev gan people are extremely patient and they will restrain Rakshasha's rebelliousness. But after sometime, the Dev v/s Rakshasha combat will begin. Rakshasha gan people react violently and have an uncontrolled temper.

They will not submit. They will challenge. This is where the Dev Gan person feels offended, it is not necessary that the Dev is right and Rakshasha is wrong. However, the Dev Gan person feels he is designated to be the authority on all matters and the Rakshasha gan will not accept it.
