From the very beginning when I learnt to read the tarot cards, I realized that we can always interpret the cards in a form of a story. These stories can be read according to the spread in which the cards are laid. The most common and easy spread is the three card spread which reveals the past or recent present, present or near future and the future of the asker. The first position tells us about the mistakes, commitments, relationships done in the past while the second position tells us about the same in the present. However, the future position tells us about the conclusion of the past and present. The future card tells us about the final outcome of the ongoing situation which began some time ago.
Therefore if there is an unhealthy card in the present as well as in the future. The cards warn us to change the behavior pattern in order to get a favorable outcome. But if it is otherwise then you must continue to behave in the current pattern. There is one such story that I am demonstrating in this article. This is a real story of the real tarot reading done for a young woman who was beautiful, sweet, tender, kind, poetic, creative, artistic, and dreamy. She was at times indolent, yet courageous when roused. This beautiful young woman about the age of twenty was going through a very tough time in her domestic as well as professional life. One day she came to me for a tarot reading; I asked her whether which spread would she prefer and she chose the simple three card spread.
She got the six of swords in the first position, the three of pentacles in the second position and the six of wands in the third position. I smiled looking at her and told her that the cards were good. I explained the spread and interpreted the cards.
Here is the story; the young girl had got stuck among frustrating circumstances where there was no growth. She did not have any emotional, professional or financial security. This had in return completely blocked her mind. But recently, she had allowed her mind to begin searching for new arenas.
She was unsure about her path’s future but no longer wanted to continue in the same rut. So she decided to move on to the unknown. That is why; the six of swords came in her past position. The card means movement or improvement of any situation; passing safely through a tormenting phase. One gets help from others rather than just mere sympathy. Stress is eased out but the destination is unknown. Travel is more of a mental nature. A new chapter begins in the person’s life. Mind and soul align in one direction.
In the near future, she would use her skills and talents in a marketing profession. She will make proper use of her innate talent and will find comfort in her work. She’ll make sure and steady progress. Her proficiency will earn her a good reputation yet she will not understand her own worth. This was symbolized by her second card; the three of pentacles.
Finally, her hard work will reap great rewards and victory for her. She’ll earn accolades, admirers and gratitude. She will be treasured by her peers. She will contribute ideas to a group project or a cause. Her leadership qualities will get acknowledged. She will hold a position of authority and have the confidence of the community. Success that is beyond imagination will be at her feet. Her original, daring thoughts will bring victory and honors. This was depicted by her third and final card which was the six of wands.
After learning about what her cards withheld she was highly relieved. She thanked me and went home delighted. But I was amazed by the practicality and accuracy of the tarot once again. The story of the young girl’s past , her psyche, her course of actions which the cards unfolded with such ease; and even predicted her near future as well as her mysterious but bright future. Her past predictions and near future were accurate. Now she awaits her glorious future predicted by the third card.
As for me, I expect to solve the mystery of the high priestess that is the eternal argument whether the sixth sense is the principal beyond tarot or is it what we call magic or is it the blend of both?
I hope that in my near future I will be able to find answers to this vague secret.
